The Profile of the Talk
This is the first part of an intended two part survey of the development and musical evolution of the clarinet one of the most versatile and expressive musical instruments.

Here is the repertoire to be played during the talk. Below it is a link to an Excel sheet which contains more information + links to the YouTube videos that you can enjoy in full:

The second part (which will be presented in a few weeks) will address its role and significance in jazz. Both parts will of necessity omit much that can be said about the instrument such as its role in folk and military contexts. But the intention is to constitute a brief reminder of how much richer compositions and orchestrations of all types have become on account of the range and richness of its sound.

David Marks
David is a retired UK lawyer (and long ago, a one time amateur clarinetist). David is now living in Beirut. Thanks to his Lebanese wife, he has been coming to and relishing this country and the surrounding region for over 25 years.
