Ziad will talk about his experience in recycling garbage. He will emphasize how his engineering team, after four years of research, developed a new technology which transforms plastic bags into solid plastic panels used in the outdoors to replace wooden and steel panels. They are currently transforming that technology to generate from fossil fuels the required energy to biomass a renewable energy source.

Ziad Abichaker is the CEO of Cedar Environmental, Lebanon. He is an Environmental Engineer, Industrial Engineer and a Master Garbage Man. He specializes in building Municipal Recycling Facilities versus central Mega recycling Plants. At Rutgers University, his team developed a technology to accelerate composting of organic waste in an odorless manner to produce high grade fertilizer. In 1996, he launched in Lebanon, Cedar Environmental whose aim is the recycling of garbage to produce organically certified and recyclable fertilizers without waste material. Ziad is a recipient of an American Society of Agricultural Engineers (ASAE) design award in 1993 for his design linking municipal waste management to agriculture. In 2001, he received the Ford Motor Company Environmental & Conservation award for the Middle East. He was recently named Arab Social Innovator for 2011 by Synergos institute in New York City, USA.
