Gaby Jammal:
Palestinian Non-ID Refugees
(Language: English supported by Arabic)
The talk will screen the film: Non-ID (24 min)
Gaby will follow this by a slide show talk and a discussion. The film shows lives of Palestinian refugees without any ID documents and the impact it gives even to Lebanese citizens through marriage. Imagine your life without ID to prove your existence in this world, life of hiding from authority, life of living with fake ID. No official access to education, work, healthcare and even to register your child's birth.
Gaby Jammal is a journalist, filmmaker and lecturer on social and political issues. Palestinian born in Lebanon, having been an activist on human rights and social/economic equality and working with NGOs. After hearing a Non-ID vegetable vendor being killed while trying to avoid ID check, a human rights NGO made a study and decided to make a film about Non-ID refugee issue.
