Lebanon Book Club (see their Facebook page Click Here) is a group of good friends all interested in books. Periodically, LBC members and their friends (on the increase), meet to present reviews of books of various genres and in various languages. Their meeting point is often the GRID in Librairie Antoine (BDT) or sometimes, during trips outside Beirut. This has been going on for a few years.
Last year, LBC was kind enough to conduct one of its review evenings at Karaz w Laimoon. This year, we are both trying an experimental formula.
Evening Format: poets are often derided for reading their poems very poorly. But, Dylan Thomas recites his poetry producing an experience hard to forget. T. S. Eliot removes all oratory “modulations” when reading his own poetry, which brings out the inherent music of his words. Our evening on 1 Feb this will consist of many 10-12 minute slots. In each slot, you can project a video clip of a poet reading a poem that you have chosen. In the remainder of the slot, you will have time to comment on the poem and the poet.
Language? No restriction. Much of poetry can be enjoyed even if the listener does not know the language.
Registration: please register in the form below. (All fields marked * are required).
