Profile of the Talk
The presentation is a part of an on-going text-based qualitative data analysis that lead to identifying topics, themes, and issues related to Lebanon’s art stories.

In this talk, Zéna will present the main periods, as acknowledged in various texts that will highlight how periodization operates and identify related concepts such as identity, sectarianism, the ‘principles’ of good/bad art, the concept of the ‘real’, and the question of art as a social practice/autonomous.



Zéna Meskaoui
Zéna meskaoui is a Senior Lecturer at LAU in Art History and Theory. Her research lies in the artistic and cultural production in Lebanon.



Her book Dignity (R)evoked examines the notions of dignity, sovereignty and violence and their bearings in art during the war (1975-1990) and in the post-war period in Lebanon.
