Profile of the Talk

The talk will cover what happened in 2011, why it did, and more importantly, about why the democratic promises of 2011 failed. Hicham will clarify how this process was one of Revolution and Counter Revolution.



Hicham Bou Nassif
Hicham is a dynamic academic trained in comparative politics. He has specialized in Middle East politics. His research interests span:

  • Authoritarianism and Democratization
  • Civil-Military Relations
  • Coups and Coup-Proofing
  • Security Sector Reform
  • Terrorism
  • Civil Wars and Ethnic Conflicts
  • International Relations.

He is currently an Assistant Professor of Government in the Department of Government in the Claremont McKenna College, Claremont, California.
