How is it Still Possible to be Innovative in Dance Today?

With the grand masters of dance and choreography behind dancers and choreographers, Omar will show us how choreographers can avoid excessive influence and be creative, how they can use bodily motion, music, props, lighting and choreography to help innovation and not inhibit it.

Omar Rajeh is a choreographer, dancer and artistic director (and founder in 2002) of the Maqamat Dance Theatre in Beirut, studied at the Lebanese University (diploma in Theatre Arts) and at the University of Surrey, England (MA Dance Studies). Omar is the founder of BIPOD (Beirut international Platform of Dance), an annual Contemporary Dance Festival in Beirut and one of the most important dance festivals in the region. Omar is also the founder of Autumn Dance, a platform for dance research and exchange. He has recently opened Maqamat Dance Studio - MT Dance Space and Takween-Beirut contemporary dance school, an intensive training program for professional dancers and choreographers. He is also the Co-founder of Masahat.
