Ziad Kreidy will speak about the motivations that led him to undertake academic research for over a decade on the history of the piano, despite the abundance of information already available on the subject. 

The piano, as a machine, has seen technological advances, but as an art instrument, it has undergone a musical metamorphosis. To support his perspective, Ziad will present various videos of the pianos he has encountered and examine the developments in sonorities from the time of Mozart to the recent innovations of the 21st century.

"A sound aesthete and sensitive creator," according to Nordwest Zeitung, Ziad Kreidy is a pianist, musicologist, composer, and educator. Holding a Ph.D. in musicology, he is the author of numerous academic works and articles. 

As a concert pianist, he performs in France, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Ireland, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Norway, the United States, Mexico, and Lebanon. He favors rare pianos and records his concerts with live sound captures. 

This approach has led him to record works by Haydn, Mozart, Schubert, Robert and Clara Schumann, Goetz, Heller, Brahms, and Grieg. His first composition, Un luth sans cordes. In memoriam Takemitsu for piano, viola, and clarinet(s), qualified him as a finalist in the Pablo Casals International Composition Competition (2009).
