Profile of the Talk
The talk will be about Brazil's most famous type of music on
the international level which is the Bossa Nova. Adel will discuss the
early origins and elements that made it possible for this genre to excel and be
accepted in Brazil and internationally.
He will introduce the famous Bossa
Nova composers, the well know songs and will be doing some easy musical
analysis. The influence of Bossa Nova on different musical genres and kinds of
culture.
Adel Minkara
Adel Minkara studied classical and jazz guitar at the
Lebanese National Conservatory and Berklee Online. He has been teaching guitar,
music theory, harmony and improvisation to instrumentalists and vocalists for
over 20 years.
Throughout his career, he has collaborated with various jazz groups and
orchestras, performing across a range of genres including classical, jazz,
oriental and pop. Notably, he worked extensively with Arthur Satyan and ZiadRahbani.
Adel is also the founder of the Brazilian music band Xangô,
active in the Lebanese music scene since 2010. He is currently working as a
session musician, both in recording and live performance.
